All you wanted to do on a daily basis, was come in, do your work and go home. But it seems that you've unintentionally entered a game of survival, engaged in a war where you will have to pick sides because alienation is death. Strategic gossip, subterfuge, counter-intelligence and sabotage may not have been the skill set laid out on your CV, but boy do you wish you'd done some work experience at the MOD.
THE PROFILES
The Tyrion Lannister Type: These people have fast minds and an even faster wit. They will gladly mind their own business and remain affable in their environment, but if you move against them, if you step on their toes deliberately...this type will plot a revenge against you that you won't see coming and the ruthlessness of it will astound you. Don't mistake their kindness for weakness. Also, look out for clues in what they say in jest, as they often pin-point their words, to expose their shady shenanigans. An insult from this type of colleague is usually a reference to a secret or hidden agenda coming your way.
The Tywin Lannister Type: A master strategist, who plays the political long game. These type of people have very little personal desire other than to see the company succeed. They have no interest in trying to make themselves look good and normally positioned in a senior position (because they were in the company before the invention of the wheel) they are true believers in the rise of the company - which is their life. This person will bleed for the company, they will fire, hire, berate, manipulate, push and coerce all in the name of the company. They are powerful and need to be handled 5 steps ahead of whatever play they are showing you...because by then, it's too late.
The Cersei Lannister Type: A spiteful gossip and whisperer of lies, this type mixes fallacy with truth. Making some of the best liars in the business, they'll tell you information to either hurt you or so you'll hurt others - sometimes both. They never do their own dirty deeds themselves, instead they manipulate situations and people and then sit back whilst everybody kills each other. A mid-level operative they know it is essential to have allies below and above them.
The Jamie Lannister Type: The office stud/beauty is very proud of themselves and their work, but is not actually, that wholly ambitious. They will strive for a higher position if an offer is made and the path laid out for them, but their skill set doesn't lie in seeing the bigger picture. Though they may be limited to being good at one thing, beware because they are the best at that one thing, don't try to take them on in their own field of expertise.
The Joffrey Baratheon Type: Outspoken, loud and obvious; if they are a low level employee you can see their plays coming from a mile away and easily put them in their place. But if they are at management level (normally through nepotism) you are in trouble. They will swear and insult you in front of others, sexually harass you and if you don't let it happen freely, they will make you pay - slowly. This is the kind of infant who would take great pleasure in using a magnifying glass to kill an ant, making the experience last for as long as possible. And if he or she's family did give them their position, they'll probably never be reprimanded for their ill behaviour.
The Petyr (Littlefinger) Baelish Type: The king/queen of the long play, they are a very ambitious type indeed and are in the company to profit themselves only. They want to be the head honcho and they plan and strategise for every contingency. They make friends and allies for political gain, but if a situation changes where betraying you will serve their cause, you will be sacrificed without hesitation. This type is very dangerous because they are unseen and quiet, like a poised cobra in the dark, waiting for the most opportune moment to strike.
The Lord Varys Type: They don't want to be the king/queen of the castle but they do want position and power. They use their acquired knowledge and information as their weapons, carefully delegating it out, to sincerely serve or to totally humiliate and destroy. Hard to read, they control their emotions very well, never losing their cool. But underneath the calm exterior there is the most unlikeliest of compassion...if you yourself are good to them.
The Olenna Tyrell Type: A mother hen type that understands human nature very well and therefore sees the motives of people when other are left guessing. They are past being the king/queen of the office, but still hold plenty of power and sway. Whoever they support stands a good chance of becoming very powerful and the lengths they will go to, will only then betray how harmless they look.
The Eddard Stark Type: A fair but stern man, he's a do-gooder and can balance strategy with action, that he will either order or ready to undertake himself. He is a tad short-sighted and may be undone by more unscrupulous types.
The John Snow Type: An acceptance of fate sees the John Snow types being good infantry commanders that you would definitely want on your side. They are loyal, skilful and their strategy grows after each saga. They may seem harmless in the overall game, but somehow fate seems to keep putting them in more important positions as time goes by. They may be a contender for the throne without knowing it.
The Brienne Of Tarth Type: They have a very good idea of where their place is in the company and will not try to go past it. They will be loyal to only one and will have their back until the end. They are also very good at what they do and rarely fail to accomplish their mission.
The Arya Stark Type: The runner, the new graduate, on the lowest rung on the ladder, naive at first they are not considered to be a factor on the chessboard. Yet in being young and a fast learner, this person will pick up every single skill, from every single person they come across and by the time they are a mid-level level employee, they would have acquired unaligned contacts and positioned themselves in a special way, to which hurting them, would mean depriving yourself in some way.
The Daenerys Targaryen Type: First banded about and used like a rag doll due to being a low level employee, Daenerys types soon learn the ways of strategy and overcome every obstacle put in their way. They graduate to an extremely high ranking level and garner some of the most powerful allies in and out of work. A head of department, they still remain a do-gooder, however they will never forget those who treated them badly and due to this, Daenerys types will rescue and protect people against tyrants and bullies with absolute prejudice.
