A few years ago it was announced that the 1991, action movie Point Break, was getting a sequel. However, the speculation came at the time that Patrick Swayze's health took a turn for the worst outcome...I for one thought that this would end any notion of a Point Break project going ahead, but it would appear that determined producers have segued from a sequel to a re-make.
Personally, from the trailer, I think the production team have completely missed the essence of the original. For starters, the chemistry of Johnny Utah and Bodhi doesn't seem to be as organic as it was in the original. And part of the charm and dilemma of the Swayze/Reeves version, stemmed from the fact, that these bad guys were actually likeable, which led to true bonds being formed. The one tweek that I will commend (but it's not necessarily an improvement) with this version, is that the armed robbers use their extreme sports skills to commit their robberies, which can only add to the excitement of the action. My final verdict on the trailer is that it looks like a cold, calculated, re-telling, that robs us of the true camaraderie, that was at the heart of the original.
