Being that the first XXX film grossed $277,448,382 worldwide, it's surprising that the studio went ahead with a different lead (Ice Cube) for the sequel, as execs usually like to keep the winning formula the same. But it's ok, the wait is over - Diesel Power is set to come back! My only concern is that will his stunts be relevant? It has been 12+ years since we were introduced via his first extreme gambit - the stealing of a sports car that he drove off a bridge. What will he have in store for us now? Extreme sports in film is common place. How will XXX3 outdo the competition it created? I always had a small movie wish, that XXX3 would star Xander Cage, with Ice Cube's Darius Stone, but with a new female XXX in toe to...3X. I know, I know it will never happen, but let a man dream. XXX3 isn't even in pre-production yet, so we have a long time to wait. In the mean time Vin Diesel will return as... | Tales of Xander Cage's demise in XXX2: State of Union were obviously put in, as a plot point, to explain why Diesel didn't return for the sequel. But as top mob bosses always say to henchmen and hired assassins "Did you see the body?" Vin Diesel has been very visible in his other franchises and technically speaking, Diesel has not franchised XXX, as of yet because he's only played Xander Cage once. The other franchise' in his filmography have had plenty of attention; Riddick's character has 3 adventures )Pitch Black, The Chronicles of Riddick and Riddick) and some animated action too. The Fast & The Furious has 7 films, Vin Diesel appearing in most of them...I mean poor old Xander has been left out! |
