a) first make her a political puppet to influence the people to conform to district protocol
AND
b) have her eliminated along with all hopes of rebellion.
Unknown to Kat and Snow, more is going on behind their backs than they could imagine.
"...as sequels go in a trilogy this isn't The Godfather Part II, The Two Towers or The Empire Strikes Back, it has the same tone and look as its predecessor but sports a different focus."
Catching Fire does have a point to its existence, it serves as the turning point where our Kat goes from being someone who wants to run away, to understanding her unintended position as part of a resistance movement. In fact the ending suggests that come part 3 we will see her in full John Connor mode because she's pissed!
Admittedly Catching Fire seems very much like The Hunger Games-original at first glance, but the real difference this time around comes from the political subterfuge and there is less attention paid to the fighting though there is enough to appease our action appetite.
CF is a good enough watch and I enjoyed watching the dynamic change between (PLOT SPOILER) Kat and _______. However as sequels go in a trilogy this isn't The Godfather Part II, The Two Towers or The Empire Strikes Back, it has the same tone and look as its predecessor but sports a different focus. It clearly leads us to understand that Part 3/4: Mockingjay will be the revolution released.
Mockingjay will be split into two parts, with Part 1 set to be released on November 21, 2014, and Part 2 on November 20, 2015
