Often sidelined when compared to the techno fetishism of Iron Man or the grandeur of the Asgardians in Thor's universe, the Captain America part of the Marvel franchise has always brought about a grounding and humanity in its narrative which some may find too low-key and even boring. But for me, Captain America represents real world issues in an appreciated, straight-forward manner.
I am glad to say that The Winter Soldier is one of the best Marvel outings period. The action is brilliant and with a $170million budget well spent the money is definitely on the screen! The hand-to-hand fighting is really well conceived and the second unit production team outdoes itself with well executed choreography. The strategy of the action scenes (see the NicK Fury escape) is well conceptualised, but most of all it's the story that remains king. CA: TWS narrates a story of genocidal gentrification and it current times it speaks to us all, as those who are supposed to protect us in real life, those who supposedly wear the 'white hats' are becoming indistinguishable from the villains, as they mercilessly wipe out people and environments to forward their selfish agenda.

I don't know if it was because Robert Redford was on set, but everybody seems to step-up their acting game. New additions in the form of Anthony 'The Falcon' Mackie and Revenge's Emily VanCamp add to the franchise and it's always good to see Agent Hill played by Cobie Smulders do what she does. I also have to admit, that Scarlett Johansson, as Black Widow has now completely won me over too.
I highly recommend this film to watch and to buy and though I would say that The Winter Soldier title is not befitting (you'll see why) and the few sprinkle of corny bits, in its whole CA:TWS still remains a top film in and outside of the Marvel stable.
