TDD's Extended Remix: Misty Holloway - Far Far Away

23/4/2017

Upon hearing Misty Holloway's - Far Far Away (Pakoussa mix) in Episode 1 of The Get Down, I instantly fell in love with what I think is one of the best disco tunes in creation! I immediately began looking for the song to buy, but as I later found out, this song really had been created, to be a fictional tune.

After a few weeks of listening to the tune through a recording off the TV, I really wanted a full version, so I thought I would contact the makers of the show to see if there were any plans to release one. I checked The Get Down credits and discovered that Elliot Wheeler, was the man in charge of all the music. I emailed him and he was kind enough to reply...

He explained to me that the 50 second-ish segment of the song, was actually all that truly existed. Noooooooooooo! Fast forward into the near future and I could no longer live without it. So, I took the 50 second-ish segment, placed it in Logic 9 and went to work...it was really difficult to handle, but I think I came out with something fairly decent, something that first of all extended the song, then added a little to it, but most importantly, didn't go about destroying everything I loved about it.

I then found footage from the trailers, as well as filming the animation parts from my phone and created a music video for the song.

Dear The Get Down Producers
RELEASE A FULL VERSION OF THE SONG AND ALSO THE GET DOWN BROTHER JACKETS, FOR SALE!
