Everytime I hear a new dance has been invented, I eagerly await to see what combination of existing dances, someone has put together and touted as 'new'. There are no new dances!
When Locking met the Robot, another street dance was born in the form of Poppin. However, I always cite that if you watch the film; Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (1968), there are elements within Sally Ann Howes' doll performance, that you might call proto poppin. Here are my 5 unconventional tunes.
BUT FIRST...FOR THE UNINITIATED - POPPIN 101
TAKEN FROM THE FRESHEST KIDS
CHITTY CHITTY BANG BANG - SALLY ANN HOWES
APHEX TWIN - WINDOWLICKER
