5 Unconventional Songs For Locking

5/6/2017

Primarily danced to with Funk, Locking is often credited, as being the first professional streetdance of the 20th century. But now in the 21st century, with innovators galore around, perhaps there is room for some unconventional, unrelated sounds to the scene, that might just make a welcome addition to the locking jukebox. Here are my top 5.

BUT FIRST...FOR THE UNINITIATED
STREETSCAPE
VS THE LOCKERS
THE SONGS
THE BRAVERY - AN HONEST MISTAKE
A song with no gaps, this Indie-disco tune would be for
the relentless locker who doesn't really want to stop!
THE RAPTURE - HOUSE OF JEALOUS LOVERS
If you like to be whole-heartedly dynamic in your
style, then this here tune will afford you your wish.
DATAROCK - FA - FA -FA
My favourite of the bunch; Fa Fa Fa by the Bravery, starts out funky and gets funkier as it eventually takes you into an amazing crescendo in the middle section. This song offers pure locking joy...So when is someone gonna drop it at a jam?
APHEX TWIN - FLOW COMA
If you ever wanted to test yourself or a student's
ability to listen to music, then this is the test song.
JAMIROQUAI - MEIN VEIN
Dancing to this song, requires the true ability to listen to music. Rehearsed stage school crap won't work here.
MODERN DAY LOCKING
THE ORIGIN OF LOCKING - FROM THE FRESHEST KIDS
THE LOST ART OF THE STOP AND GO

Born of the dance floor, I like to play music that moves people physically and emotionally. Old enough to remember when vinyl was king, I still use wax as my main diet and will probably do so forever.
